This post is all about How to Start Selling Digital Products
Selling digital products online is honestly one of the smartest ways to make money in college — especially if you don’t want to trade 40 hours of your life for minimum wage.
So what are digital products? Basically anything non-physical that you can sell online — think ebooks, study guides, templates, planners, presets, Notion dashboards, etc. We’ll go way deeper into the good ones soon.
The best part? You work when you want. You work as much or as little as you want. And the money you make is pretty much tied to how good your stuff is and how hard you push it.
I’ve never sold digital products before, but I just spent the last month going full nerd mode — researching everything, testing ideas, and figuring out what actually works.
Now I’m handing you a simple, step-by-step guide so you can start making money with digital products this weekend.

What are Digital Products
What's a Digital Product?
Digital products are basically anything you can’t hold in your hand.
No shipping. No inventory. No suppliers. No packaging.
You create it once, then sell it over and over again.
Some easy examples:
- Workout plans or meal prep PDFs
- Study guides or college templates
- Notion dashboards
- 3D printing files
- Online courses
- Phone wallpapers / presets / planners
The hardest part? Figuring out what you are good at that other people would actually pay for.
But don’t worry — we’ll talk about how to find that sweet spot soon.
The Hard Part
Here’s the truth — creating the product is easy. Getting people to find it? That’s the real challenge.
But it’s not rocket science. You just need to show up where your people already are.
Example 1: Gym Workout PlansIf you’re into fitness and have a body people want, post videos of yourself lifting. Give quick tips. Show what workout you’re doing that day. At the end of every reel just say: “Hey, if you want my full 8-week workout plan, link in bio/description.”
Example 2: 3D Print FilesFilm your prints actually being used — your dog playing with them, a kid building something, whatever. End the video with a call-to-action: “Want this file? Link in bio.” You could even make a mini-course teaching people how to create and sell their own 3D files.
The secret? Consistency.
You have to wake up and post every single day. Multiple times a day. On TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts — all of them.
Sounds scary, but it’s not that bad. Take one good video and turn it into 6 smaller reels. Post them everywhere. Done in 30 minutes.
At the beginning you’ll get zero views. That’s normal. Keep going. The views start coming, then the sales start coming.
Just don’t quit in the first two weeks.

Simple Steps to Launch in a Weekend
Here’s the fastest, smartest way to get started:
Find someone who is already successfully selling exactly what you want to sell.
Don’t worry about “saturation.” People buy from different creators for the same problem all the time. Just pick someone whose style you like and emulate them.
Example: Selling a Gym Plan
I would go on Instagram or TikTok and search for people selling workout plans. Let’s say I find a guy like this:
He has a great physique, posts funny, relatable, easy-to-share videos, and casually talks about fitness. In his bio he has a link to his Gumroad page.
On his sales page, the plan has a catchy name, a clear explanation of what’s inside, and he shows exactly how it helps people. Then he makes the sale.
Super straightforward.
If I were launching my own gym plan, I would do almost the exact same thing:
- Post funny, relatable workout videos (just like him)
- Talk about my plan in the videos or in the comments
- Pin a comment like: “Want the full plan? Link in bio”
- When people DM “How do I look like you?” → reply “Everything is in the link in my bio ”
Copy their process. Steal their vibe (not their actual content).
The product itself is important, but marketing is 80% of the game. Once you copy a proven system, everything gets way easier.
How to Get Your First Sales as a Student
Honestly? It’s actually really simple.
It only takes two things:
- Pick one thing and don’t switch to anything else.
- Show up and post every single day. Don’t quit.
That’s it.
At the beginning it’s going to feel painfully slow. You’ll post and get basically zero views. That’s normal.
But here’s the magic — it’s like compound interest.
Your first sale will feel like it took forever. Your second sale will come faster. Then the third, fourth, and suddenly you’re getting more and more… and you’ll look back like “how the hell did I get here?”
Just stay consistent and don’t jump niches.
That’s seriously the best advice I can give you.
Stick with it and it works.
